Odd US States

I wanted to see if there were US states other than the usual two letter abbreviations not including the normal territories. DC could be excluded but it has some odd entries. The results here differ from the results where the US state code length is not two

q={"_and":[{"location_country":"US"},{"_not":{"location_state":["AK","AL","AR","AZ","CA","CO","CT","DE","FL","GA","GU","HI","IA","ID","IL","IN","KS","KY","LA","MA","MD","ME","MI","MN","MO","MS","MT","NC","ND","NE","NH","NJ","NM","NV","NY","OH","OK","OR","PA","PR","RI","SC","SD","TN","TX","UT","VA","VI","VT","WA","WI","WV","WY"]}}]}
&f=["location_total_num_patents", "location_state", "location_country", "location_latitude", "location_longitude", "location_city"]
&o={"per_page":100} &s=[{"location_state":"asc"},{"location_city":"asc"}]

The map below is initially centered on Indianapolis. To display the map centered on one of the weird cities, click on the corresponding radio button and then click the "Center Map" link. This phenomenon does not seem limited to the US; other countries have similar rows.
